NESR Privacy Policy

NESR (New England Snow Reports) is a free app for checking ski conditions, tracking ski days and finding people to ride with. It is run by New England Dive Sites LLC ("we", "us"), which also runs NEDS. NESR has its own accounts, separate from NEDS. This policy explains what we collect and why.

What we collect

Data When Why
Name and email from Apple or Google, or the email and name you enter When you sign in To create your account. Other skiers see only your first name and last initial. Your email is never shown.
Profile details you add (home town, ski or snowboard, level) When you edit your profile Shown to help other skiers decide who to ride with. Your home town is also used for drive times.
Season passes you link (Ikon, Epic, Indy or a mountain pass), and the pass number if you add one When you add a pass To show the mountains your pass covers and count your days on it. Which pass products you have this season is shown on your skier page. Your pass number is visible only to you. NESR never connects to Ikon, Epic or Indy accounts and never sees your lift scans.
Plans, group trips, replies and comments you post, and plans you join When you post, reply, comment or tap "I'll meet you there" Shown to everyone using NESR with your first name and last initial. The person who posted a plan is notified when you join or reply.
Ski days and photos you log (mountain, date, runs, vertical, hours, top speed, snow conditions, rating, review, notes) When you log a day Shared days (the default) are shown to everyone using NESR with your first name and last initial. Days you mark "just for me" are visible only to you. Photos are resized on your phone and their location data is removed before upload.
Precise location while you track a ski day Only while "Track my runs" is on, and only if you allow it To count your runs, vertical, distance and top speed. The GPS points stay on your phone; only the day's totals are saved with your ski day. Tracking stops when you end the day. With "Always" permission it keeps counting with the screen off.
Mountain ratings and reviews When you rate a mountain on a ski day Shown on the mountain's page with your first name and last initial. Ratings on days marked "just for me" aren't shown and don't count toward the average.
Favorite mountains, people you follow and people you block When you star, follow or block To personalize the app and send alerts. Your follow and block lists are private.
Skiers you tag on a ski day ("Rode with") When you save a day Shown on that day. Only people you planned that day with in NESR can be tagged.
Season stats Worked out from your shared ski days Your days, mountains, vertical, runs and badges are shown on your skier page, and skiers with the most shared days or vertical this season are shown on the leaderboard, with first name and last initial. Days marked "just for me" never count.
Reports you file about posts or people When you tap Report So we can review them and remove content that breaks the rules.
Push notification token If you allow notifications To send the alerts you've turned on (powder alerts, weekend outlook, plans and replies).
Anonymous usage count Once a day when you open the app A random ID created on your phone (not linked to your name, email or account) and the date, so we know how many people use NESR.
Approximate location Only if you allow it (for "Near me" and "Use GPS" in Plan a ski day) To rank mountains by drive time. Your last position is kept on your phone for a faster start and is never sent to NESR.

You can browse the app without an account; nothing about you is collected when you do.

What we don't do

Where it's stored

Account data and posts are stored with our database provider, Supabase, in the United States. Forecast data comes from Open-Meteo and the National Weather Service; NESR sends them only mountain positions, never anything about you.
